Medicare Parts A and B
There are multiple parts included in Medicare, two of which are what most people will enroll in first once they become eligible for Medicare. These two parts are known as Medicare Parts A and B, and when combined together, are known as Original Medicare.

What Does Part A Cover?
Part A is your hospital insurance and will provide coverage for:
✔ Inpatient hospital care
✔ Home health care
✔ Hospice care
✔ Skilled nursing facility care
✔ Nursing home care (not long-term care)
What Does Part B Cover?
Part B is your medical insurance and will provide coverage for:
✔ Outpatient medical care
✔ Ambulance services
✔ Durable medical equipment
✔ Medicare necessary services
✔ Mental health services
✔ Preventive services
When Can I Enroll?
You can be automatically enrolled in Original Medicare if you receive benefits from Social Security. If you do not, you can always manually enroll during your Initial Enrollment Period, which will mark when you first become eligible for Medicare. This period starts three months before you turn 65 and then ends three months after you turn 65.
At Hamil Legacy, we recommend that you enroll in Original Medicare as soon as you are eligible to so you can avoid late enrollment penalties and get its coverage as quickly as you can.
